My chicken, Tweety-Sweety, is 5 months old and was doing great until 3 days ago. At first she was just limping a little bit, but by that night she wouldn't or couldn't use her right leg at all. If she does walk, the toes are curled under the foot. Its hard to tell if the problem is just the foot or includes the leg. There is no noticeable injury to either the foot or leg and she doesn't appear to be in any pain. She just kinda acts like she has forgotten how to use the leg/foot. I hatched this chicken myself so she thinks I am her mom and I do love her so much. I am new to having chickens. She is only the second one we hatched on our farm. Does anyone have any suggestions out there? Thanks, Shirley in SC

Does it happened without cause? A little less common were reports of a condition called perosis, which is the twisting of the bird’s leg bones. This is caused by low levels of chlorine.
